What is Agence

Agence is an application-focused NFT blockchain that aims to provide a way to connect the virtual worlds of games.

NFTs are treated as first class citizens with on-chain features including trading, auctions, leasing, and transparent RNG.

Built by game developers for game developers, Agence is designed for the ease of developers to create NFT games.

Motivation From Pain Points

Our main motivation is to solve pain points in the gaming industry for both developers and gamers.

Despite having great ideas, many teams are unable to fully execute their visions due to physical limitations such as team size or technical expertise.

With an increasing number of games released per year, catching the attention of players is increasingly difficult.

Most games exist in isolation and do not have interactions with other games, even from the same developer.

Alliances

With the increasing amount of competition and how most games work in isolation, there’s a strong need for smaller developers to form alliances more than ever. However, due to the lack of resources, this is usually closer to being a fantasy than a practical strategy.

Ownership

Many games in recent years sell virtual items, whether directly or via loot box mechanics. Unlike how traditionally owning a game meant having a physically copy, this ownership model means players are at the mercy of the developer’s servers. Players own the items only if the servers are alive and the developer doesn’t run out of business.

Barrier to try new games

Finding time to even try new games is also increasingly more difficult. Games employ numerous tactics such as daily quests and time limited events to entice players to spend at least a certain amount of time everyday. Trying a new game could mean losing precious time and items from the game that the player has been playing.

RNG Rates

Due to the prevalence of loot boxes in games, fair rates have more important than ever. While game developers may reveal the rates to satisfy regulations, there's no way for gamers to actually verify that the rates are accurate.

Agence is a network that enables the connecting of games, opening doors to developer alliances and strategic partnerships.

Blockchain based

Using blockchain technology, Agence guarantees fairness and transparency with the innate properties of blockchain. Storing data on the chain would ensure the data will not be altered.

Game Alliances

With asset data stored and readily accessible from the chain, it becomes straightforward for games to collaborate and support each others' data.

Data Ownership

Under Agence, players own their asset data. Regardless of whether the game is centralized or decentralized, the data is for the players to keep and use.

Features

With Agence, the data is stored on a blockchain, which means players continue to possess the data even after the servers stop running. Players would be able to continue to use that data in other supported games, and also if a developer decides to revive the original game.

Trading

Trading of NFTs can be performed on-chain, and therefore would be atomic transactions.

Delegated Transaction Fees

In addition to low transaction fees, entities can pay transaction fees for others to onboard new users.

On-Chain Auctions

NFTs can be auctioned on chain, removing the reliance of a 3rd party marketplace.

Game-focused

The chain's features and properties are tailored to serve applications and the gaming industry.

Fair RNG

On-chain random number generation for more transparent and fairer item generation.

Agence Wallet

Users will be able to view their possessions, send and receive assets via the wallet, which will have both browser and mobile based versions.

Fungible token

Fungible tokens are tokens that are not individually unique and are replaceable, such as currency, reward points, stocks and more.

Non-Fungible token

Non-fungible tokens, or NFTs, are tokens that are unique and can't be replaced by another. They could represent in-game items, such as characters and equipment, or real world items such as art or music.

NFTs on Agence are first class citizens and are innately supported by the chain. This directly translates to performance and ease of use for both developers and gamers.

Game Developers participate in the community by building games that leverage Agence, share development experiences, as well as providing valuable feedback.

Vision for NFT and Games

We envision a future where games mint a subset, if not all, of their assets as NFTs. While it'll be unlikely that minting will be free, they would be low cost enough for common items to be worth minted. Games would not be making their fortune via selling scarce, but through royalties in a healthy game economy that encourages trading.

Games naturally should focus on fun and enterntainment, therefore NFTs should not dictate how a game should be played, but rather serve as a tool to help both players and developers. It should open up new ways to play games, enable players to truly own game assets, and provide new revenue model for game developers.
